It seems that most established artists agree on one thing and that is their art style is a mosaic of all the artists that they love.

On that note Lime, I would like to compile a list of artists that we look up to.

I think it would be great to see how our art will look like in 5 to 10 years time.

Will we be able to incorporate elements from each of them?

Who knows!

But it sounds hella exciting to look forward to don't you agree?

[Art Parents]

These are the mangakas that nurtured our love for art and storytelling.

Katsura Hoshino [x]

Creator of D.Gray-man.

Love how the series taught me that the world is not simply black and white in terms of morality.

That we often need to see and judge for ourselves where we stand instead of just accepting world views on the get go.

I also really love her art progression through the years.

CLAMP

Creator of Cardcaptor Sakura, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, and Code Geass

I love the complexity of their stories as well as the intricate details they do with their chapter covers and panels.

Natsuki Takaya

Creator of Fruits Basket

Compelling character relationships and life lessons. Have you seen the short story about The Most Foolish Traveler? [x]

[Semi-Realism]

There's something I find beautiful with this style and for some reason I think splash art is the source. Either that, or the official artwork of ORV (Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint).

Blackbox [x]

Illustrator of Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint.

Just awe-inspiring art altogether.

CoaxIllust [x]

Love his personality. When watching his videos, I can't help but feel hyped and start drawing too.

He also inspired me to explore greyscale over colors [x] and prioritizing shapes over lines [x].

mmmmonexx [x]

An artist that I love to draw with alongside their videos as the -tap tap- of a pencil/stylus is really grounding.

I really love the confidence they have with their lines especially how they draw the eyes.

[Storytelling]

These artists embody the saying "A picture worth a thousand words" in their works

They answer the questions: What are the characters doing and where are they

Further sells to the viewer that the characters have lives of their own and we are only given a glimpse of it

Djamila Knopf [x]

She describes her artworks as illustrations that evoke a sense of wonder and nostalgia.

And I feel that. Her works are really great, vibrant, and lovely.

Here's her workshop about telling a story through illustrations [x]

Matt Rhodes [x]

This guy made a whole story without words. Pretty amazing.

[Feeling]

Could've been under storytelling too

But I wanted to separate it since most of the story is shown through their character interactions

Viria13 [x]

Always love how she was able to capture her subject's feelings through their eyes or how they touch one another.

Nekokonut [x]

I sometimes feel embarrassed looking at his artworks. It is as if I chanced upon an intimate moment between his characters. Great work overall to be able to extract that feeling out of me. [x] [y]

[Composition]

I love how they are able to capture a character's vibe with their compositions.

Just a glimpse and you know that a character is deadly (or friendly).

Toni Infante [x]

Very dynamic poses.

I love how he frames and leads the eye to the subject using elements in the environment.

I also love his color scheme.

Gravity Dusty [x]

If Toni Infante utilizes environments to frame his subjects, Gravity Dusty uses abstract elements to frame hers.

Really iconic eye style.

[Special Mentions]

Drawingwiffwaffles [x]

Really love drawing alongside her videos.

Her energy is just infectious with how she enjoys drawing.

Her channel is where I learned how to do effective practice [x].

Marc Brunet [x]

Great free tutorials overall alongside Ethan Becker.

Marc slices up his tutorials in levels and makes progression seem fun and achievable.

The one video I utilized the most as I learn anatomy this year is [x].

LucidPixul [x]

Art talks.

Put your headphones on and listen to your art dad who tells you about not just outlooks in art but life as well.

Scott Christian Sava [x]

Art Granddad. Same with Drawingwiffwaffles, I really love his vibe. He just exudes that chill and calm energy that I hope to embody one day. I really love how he frames his characters with hair.

Danica Sills [x]

I love the intricacy of the way she draws her hair.

Ohwelladays [x]

I love the warm atmosphere in her works and how it is crowded with plants.

Definitely love the affirmation in one of her works saying...

Give it your best.

Do it with love.

And your efforts will shine through.

J.C. Leyendecker [x]

Great shape language overall but more than that I love the brushstrokes he has on his highlights.

Alphonse Mucha [x]

Love how he does frames and the amount of floral details in it.

I also love how he draws hair.
